Caffeine Causes Low Birth Weight Babies

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has just issued a warning to all pregnant women to limit their caffeine intake during pregnancy or risk giving birth to a underweight baby. This warning is in addition to the already issued warning informing pregnant women of the increased risk of miscarriage due to the intake of caffeine.
The FSA is lowering the current recommended caffeine intake limit from 300mg a day to 200mg, which is equivalent to two normal size cups of instant or brewed coffee. Women also need to watch out for hidden sources of caffeine which can be found in many teas, soft drinks/colas, energy drinks, and chocolate.
