Cooking : Crock-Pot Cooking Tips

Crock-pot cooking can offer some very tasty meals and desserts however some basic rules should be followed when using a crock-pot to cook with. You should be careful not to over stir their food while it’s cooking in a crock pot. Taking the lid off during cooking causes vast amounts of heat to escape, therefore the food should only be stirred if it is clearly stated in the recipe.

Some elements can only be added at the end of the cooking time. When using milk and sour cream be sure to wait until the last fifteen minutes of cooking time before adding these ingredients. Unless the recipe states otherwise, seafood only needs to be included during the last hour of cooking time.

Shallow-frying includes sauting, sweating and stir-frying. A frying pan is usually chosen for shallow-frying, but for large quantities some kitchens use a shallow tilting pan or brat pan. Good shallow-frying requires complete attention and skilled heat control. Because a small amount of frying medium is used in relation to the quantity of food being fried, the food may be easily burnt or poorly cooked.

Organic Meat: Just What Does It Mean?

What does the term mean “organic meat” mean? When conditions are met such that the health needs and natural behavior of the animal are taken care of, then the philosophy of organic meat is being followed.

Organic livestock are allowed to roam free, within certain bounds of course, as they would have done when they were wild with fresh air, fresh water, sunshine, green grass and pasture, etc. They are not feed any plastic pellets for roughage or other animal byproducts of any sort, nor are they given antibiotics and hormones. They are, however, allowed the opportunity to exercise with shelter provided only for their comfort, not as a means of containment.

Fish – The Healthy And Nutritious Way

I was watching the channel “Discovery Travel and Living” the other day. Food related shows are definitely one that catches my attention. They are a great source of information about food in particular and of course not to mention the numerous wonderful recipes. Last evening was what I call a “foodie evening” on the channel. This is one reason that I love Thursdays. There is nice program titled “Floyd’s India” followed by “Indian Cooking made easy” with Anjum Anand hosting it.

Summer’s here, and that means that many children will be at home with more time for snacking. While many would love a cabinet filled with sweet treats for snacks, it’s much better if you can get them into the habit of healthy snacks.

Now how are you going to do that?

The first step is simple to say, harder to put into practice. Simply start buying healthier treats and leave the junk in the store.

For most people it’s not quite that simple. But once you can manage it, it really does become simpler to eat healthier snacks or to give them to children. There’s nothing else available in the house.
