Nuts During Pregnancy Increases Risk of Child Asthma

A new study undertaken by the Dutch government has recently uncovered that pregnant women who consume nuts daily during their pregnancy have a 50% increased chance of having a child with asthma when
compared to women who did not eat nuts, or who ate nuts sparingly, during pregnancy. Four-thousand women participated in the study and kept records of all the foods consumed throughout their pregnancy. Their children were then monitored for signs of asthma until the age of eight. Doctors do not yet know why eating large quantities of nuts, or nut-based substances (like peanut butter), can lead to asthma but pregnant women are now advised to limit their nut intake during pregnancy.
